Wilks is proud to be one of the world’s leading companies in the manufacture and supply of impact protection and decking systems.
We manufacture a wide range of fendering profiles for both boat and pontoon applications. We also manufacture accessories for other marine users including Dek-King, a superb alternative to teak decking.
At our premises we hold a vast stock of profiles in flexible PVC, rigid PVC, stainless steel, aluminium and rubber. Additionally as manufacturers we can also supply to meet your individual trade requirements.
Looking for fendering? Wilks have all the profiles you need
Since 1973 Wilks has been at the forefront of the UK marine industry in the supply of fendering to the worlds leading marine companies. Whilst directly meeting the needs of boat builders, chandlers and retail customers.
We pride ourselves in stocking a wide range of boat fendering and rub rail profiles to meet the demands of a variety of vessels as well as pontoon fendering specifically designed for use as a dock bumper upon
moorings, landings and floating pontoons.
Our Traditional Range offers a superb alternative to wooden rubbing strakes. It provides a convincing wood-grain effect once sanded. The range not only features a selection of our more popular rub rail profiles but handrail and toe rail too. All profiles within the Traditional Range are manufactured in 100% recycled material and deliver a high performing, eco-friendly product for your craft.
In addition we supply a variety of accessories for profile fitting and installation.
If you are unable to find what you need then please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your exact requirements. Our in-house tooling facilities ensure that we are able to offer our customers full support from the early stages of product development through to manufacture. We can also extrude custom made profiles to your specific colour requirements with extremely reasonable order quantities.
Choosing your fendering profile
Some things to consider when choosing a fendering profile. The first thing is whether the profile will be fitted onto a flat or flanged (lipped) surface. The size of the profile can then be generally determined by the space available to work with on the boat, as well as the requirements of the fendering.
A working boat will often be fitted with a heavy duty D profile whereas in contrast a day cruiser would feature a profile akin to a rigid PVC/aluminium profile fitted with a PVC insert
All profiles drawings in this brochure are true to size to allow easy matching of “like for like” profiles, by placing your existing fender onto the profile drawing.
Identify your profile
Below are a variety of joins and flanges to help identify potential fendering profiles.
Material types
We manufacture in a variety of materials which have been carefully selected to provide optimal performance for each profile’s designed application.
Each manufactured material is stated in the profile product description.
PVC
Our PVC profiles are extruded in a range of grades (hardnesses) from rigid/01 to soft/50.
Rubber
Extruded from a virgin EPDM based compound, rubber provides excellent resistance to the water, temperature and ozone levels found in the marine environment.
Pre-formed bow and transom bends can be produced on a selection of our rubber profiles, in 1.5m lengths with the angle centrally positioned.
PVC grades and descriptions
Rigid – These profiles are denoted with an “R”.
/01 – For body/retainers and rigid strips to strengthen softer PVC profiles. Can be fitted around most bows or transoms providing a radius is present.
/15 – A hard yet flexible compound.
/20 – Can be heated proir to fitting to stretch over flanges and tight radiuses.
/45 – Provides the best performance on impact of all grades.
/50 – Soft and flexible and generally does not require pre-heating.
